Overview
Magnifier is a Windows app that can help visually-impaired users by enlarging part or all of their screen.
How-To Steps
To launch the Magnifier app:
- Press [Windows ] + [Plus sign +] on your keyboard, or
- Use the Search bar in the WIndows toolbar to search for and select the Magnifier app.
Once the Magnifier app is launched, the screen zooms in based on the default settings. Move your mouse toward the edges of the screen to move the magnified area. You can zoom in by pressing [Windows ] + [Plus sign+] on your keyboard and zoom out by pressing [Windows ] + [Minus sign -].
Magnifier also has a screen-reader function:
- Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Enter] to begin reading from the current cursor location. Press again to pause, then again to resume.
- To begin reading from a specific place on the screen, hold down [Ctrl] + [Alt] and left-click the place where you want to start.
- Press any key to stop reading.
To close the Magnifier app, press [Windows ] + [Esc] on your keyboard, or click the X in the upper-right corner of the app.
