Overview
If you are a student that is enrolled in a course that is part of the First Day Access program, you can use the First Day Access page in the LMS course to view and access required materials, as well as opt out of the program if desired.
How To Steps
When you view the First Day Access page after you have first registered for the course, it may show “1 Course, 0 Materials”. This is normal and the required materials and related options will automatically display once the integration process is complete. This will take at least 15 minutes to complete but may take up to four hours.

NOTE: If no materials display after four hours, contact your instructor.
After the integration process is complete, the required materials display on the First Day Access page. For most courses, students are automatically opted in to the program. If you decide to opt out, you will have to purchase the materials on your own. Standalone materials outside the First Day Access system may or may not be available at the STC Bookstore.

Opting Out
To opt out of the program for a particular title, perform the following steps:
- Select the Want to Opt Out? Option in the First Day Access page. This must be done before the opt-out deadline, which is usually two weeks after the start of classes.

NOTE: Some courses do not allow students to opt out of the program. For these courses, the Want to Opt Out? Option does not appear. These courses include but are not limited to:
- CODE 180
- EMT 105
- LPN 104
- NURS 201
- PARAM 100
- In the dialog that displays, select the reason you are opting out, then click Opt Out. You may also click Cancel to cancel the opt-out and return to the First Day Access page.

- Once you have opted out, you will see an “Opted Out” icon for that title. You may click Opt In if you decide to opt back in to the program. You can opt out and opt in as many times as you need before the opt-out deadline.

Revealing Access Code
The First Day Access page is used to deliver your access code for the required course materials. This code is then entered in the publisher’s website to access the materials. To reveal this code:
- Click Reveal Access Code. You must be opted in for the code to appear.

NOTE: Some publishers, including Cengage and McGraw-Hill, do not use access codes. Instead, the student will need to create a student account on the publisher’s website using their STC email and the course materials will be made available in their account automatically. If no access code is needed for a title, the Reveal Access Code option does not appear.
- In the dialog that displays, the access code and publisher website link appear. Click the Copy options to copy the access code and URL as needed.

- Follow the instructions given by your instructor to enter the code and access your materials.
Troubleshooting
If you have issues with accessing the First Day Access content, please contact your instructor first. They will have step by step instructions on how to access your course materials. If you are unable to get the proper support from your instructor, we then suggest contacting the publisher. Lastly, if your problem still hasn’t been solved, please create an IT Support ticket or contact Adam Wells (adam.wells@southeasttech.edu).
